Adobe Labs - Adobe AIR: Devloping on AIR with Flex and Flash

Adobe® Integrated Runtime (AIR), formerly code-named Apollo, is a cross-operating system runtime that allows web application developers to use their existing web development skills (HTML, JavaScript, Adobe Flash®, Adobe Flex™, Ajax) to build and deploy rich Internet applications to the desktop. Once installed, these connected desktop applications complement browser-based web applications by providing additional reach and capabilities.

Adobe® AIR™ applications can be built using a wide variety of tools, frameworks, and IDEs. Adobe is working to provide solutions that interoperate with existing tools while exposing the new capabilities and features available to applications built on Adobe AIR.

erubycon - Columbus, Ohio - Data Warehousing with ActiveWarehouse Data warehouses are a common fixture in many enterprises. Data warehouses provide an environment for integrating data from systems across the enterprise into a single environment where the data can be analyzed and long-term trends can be identified. Data warehouses provide the basis for in-depth knowledge about an enterprise and all of its components.

This presentation will provide an introduction to data warehousing, Rails style. It will cover the elements of the ActiveWarehouse plugin, an open source extension for Ruby on Rails that helps developers build data warehouses, as well as ActiveWarehouse ETL, the Extract-Transform-Load library that is part of the ActiveWarehouse project. It will provide an introduction to the concepts of data warehouses and will show how the ActiveWarehouse plugin can be used to reduce the time required to bring data into a datawarehouse and build a data warehouse front end.
