Data warehouses provide an environment for integrating data from systems across the enterprise into a single environment where the data can be analyzed and long-term trends can be identified. Data warehouses provide the basis for in-depth knowledge about an enterprise and all of its components.

This presentation will provide an introduction to data warehousing, Rails style. It will cover the elements of the ActiveWarehouse plugin, an open source extension for Ruby on Rails that helps developers build data warehouses, as well as ActiveWarehouse ETL, the Extract-Transform-Load library that is part of the ActiveWarehouse project. It will provide an introduction to the concepts of data warehouses and will show how the ActiveWarehouse plugin can be used to reduce the time required to bring data into a datawarehouse and build a data warehouse front end.
